The Bridgewater-Raritan High School’s HOPE Squad held its annual Candygrams fundraiser from Wednesday, February 4, through Friday, February 6. Students were allowed to send messages of encouragement and love paired with candy to friends, classmates, and teachers.
Candygrams were sold during unit lunch in the 100 and 1000 building lobbies, quickly becoming a popular way for students to participate in a small act of kindness and connection.

The fundraiser was designed to promote positivity while supporting HOPE Squad’s ongoing mission of suicide prevention and mental health awareness. By creating an accessible and lighthearted way for students to connect with their peers, the event emphasized the importance of checking in on one’s peers and fostering a positive, supportive school environment.
Many students used the candygrams to show their appreciation for friends, make someone’s day, or simply to remind someone that they are seen and valued.
Throughout the three days of sales, HOPE Squad members worked during unit lunch periods to manage purchases and engage with students interested in the club’s mission. The large turnout illustrated strong student enthusiasm and highlighted how even the smallest of gestures can make an impact across the school community.
Following the sales of the candygrams, club members gathered during Unit Lunch on Monday, February 9, and Tuesday, February 10, to assemble the candygrams. During these sessions, students worked together to organize messages, prepare candy packages with an assortment of popular candies, and ensure that each candygram looked presentable for delivery.
Distribution of the candygrams took place after school on Thursday, February 12. Members delivered candygrams throughout all buildings, putting smiles on the faces of receivers. The deliveries marked the culmination of a week’s worth of effort focused on spreading encouraging messages and portraying the idea that mental health awareness should be integrated into everyday school activities.
Sophomore Soumya Choudhary, a member of the HOPE Squad, reflected on the significance of the event.
“The Candygrams event reflects HOPE Squad’s mission at Bridgewater-Raritan High School by promoting kindness, connection, and peer support within the school community,” explained Choudhary. “I hope students feel valued and appreciated when they receive or send a Candygram. Ideally, the experience reminds them that small acts of kindness can make a meaningful difference in someone’s day,” she added.
Through strong student participation and dedicated volunteering, the candygrams fundraiser demonstrated how community initiatives can make a meaningful, positive impact. As the Bridgewater-Raritan High School’s HOPE Squad continues to host events like these that promote kindness and awareness, the candygrams event remains a reminder of how positivity can start with even the smallest actions.
