The Bridgewater-Raritan High School girls’ outdoor track and field team is looking to compete at a high level and continue improving after a strong 2025 season and indoor showing.
Last year, the team delivered a strong season, breaking four outdoor records—the triple jump, 4×100-meter relay, discus relay, and 400-meter dash—and sending two discus throwers and the 4×800 relay team to compete at the Group 4 Championships at Franklin High School.
After graduating multiple high performers and collegiate-level athletes, such as Liya Medallon, who now competes in the jumping events at West Point Military Academy, and Emily Leppert, who now competes in the throwing events at Kutztown University, Coach Adam Pyle is looking to lead the team to another successful year of outdoor competition.
“We want to continue building off the shoulders of the individual’s success that we had last season,” Coach Pyle explained. “We have a lot of new faces as well as returners, including a strong freshman class looking to help out the team.”
This year, the team is looking to advance as many athletes as possible to later meets like the Group 4 Championships and Meet of Champions, after Kaitlyn Chu’s 3200-meter race and the 4×800 team’s race during the winter indoor season.

Other returners, like junior Meera Buddhikkot, are also looking to make a statement this year in their respective events.
“I have been able to learn from such incredible teammates in the past,” Buddhikot said. “I’m ready to step up and work as hard as I can to compete at the level I want to compete at.”
With intense competition at upcoming meets like the legendary Penn Relays on April 23 and the North Jersey, Section 2, Group 4 state sectional meet on May 15-16, Coach Pyle and the team are working hard to achieve their goals of earning over 60 points at a varsity-level meet and breaking even more records.
“It will be a tough season,” Coach Pyle explained, “but we have an excellent coaching staff, great support from our parents and guardians, and most importantly, motivated and energetic student athletes.”
The first varsity meet took place Saturday, March 28, at 11:30 a.m. at the Skyland Conference Relays at Franklin High School. The meet featured many standout performers, including junior Sofia Daniels, who placed third in the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:33.60; freshman Juliet Casamento, who finished second in the long jump with a mark of 16-8.50; and senior Tori Torres, who placed first in the triple jump with a mark of 31-11.25.
The girls look forward to the Somerset County Relays, which takes place on Saturday, April 11, at 9 a.m. at Ridge High School.
