Bridgewater-Raritan High School’s field hockey team started its season 7-5-1, which featured a four-game winning streak.
In its game on September 16, the team beat Hunterdon Central Regional High School, 7-0. The girls played Montgomery High School on September 18, resulting in a 1-0 victory.
Bridgewater-Raritan is presently 7-7 as it prepares for the quarterfinal round of the Somerset County Tournament that will be played on its home turf against Ridge High School on Friday, October 17. Game time is 4:30 p.m.
The offense has been paced by juniors Makenzie Harris, Angelina Carey, and Teagan Hughes.
Meanwhile, the team’s new goalie, freshman Zahra Abraham, has led he defense
Hughes shared her and the team’s mindset going into the season.
“The team’s mindset going into the season was to focus on growth. We have a good mix of veterans and players new to varsity, so we wanted to concentrate on the style of play and building chemistry with each other on and off the field,” she said.
She continued.
“I think it really shows now in how we play, and we are proud and excited about how the season has started. I am confident this team’s mindset will continue to grow throughout the season and make our team even stronger.”
