Bridgewater-Raritan High School (BRHS) held one of its biannual college fairs on Wednesday, October 9, in the Vaughn C. Stapleton Gymnasium.
Numerous colleges from around the country sent representatives to the Fall College Fair to speak to students at the high school about their respective colleges and what they offer. This event gave students a chance to gain a taste of college life and what it would be like.
All students were permitted to attend the fair, but for upperclassmen, it served as an important event to gain a view of what they might want to seek out in the colleges they apply to. Additionally, they were able to get perspectives from the college representatives themselves, gaining deep insight into what the college would be like and what the experience would entail.
The college fair gave students the opportunity to speak with representatives from over a hundred colleges from across the country. From military branches such as the NJ National Guard Recruiting & Retention Battalion to state schools like the University of Florida, students were able to explore their diverse interests. Underclassmen were introduced to various options as they began their college search. As the college application deadline approached, many upperclassmen gained valuable insight into the admissions process.
Many students spend high school working towards college admissions and the chance to attend college. However, the admissions process itself can be very overwhelming and students can be misguided through the whole process. Events like the college fair help them organize their thoughts and examine colleges without having to tour all of them. It makes the whole process easier for students.
Junior Julianne Badger, who attended the fair, expressed her thoughts.
“It was extremely helpful and informative, helping me answer questions I’ve had about college and showing me places than I hadn’t even heard of before,” she said.
The college fair served as a valuable event for many, and BRHS hopes to continue hosting it in the future.
