The Bridgewater-Raritan Boys Varsity Soccer team just became Somerset County champs after a 4-1 win over Bernards.

During the game, Coach Rick Szeles transferred one of their regular season defenders to the top of their 4-3-3 formation (add why). Szeles’ change to the frontline made one of the biggest impacts on the game.
It allowed junior Jan Guanilo Morales, who plays as a striker for BR, to score two pivotal goals. One goal sneaked past the Bernards goalie and the other was a penalty shot.

Aidan Costa, one of the team captains, brought the team their first goal of the game, a soaring header off a corner. In the last of the second half, Chris Mckinney capped off the game with a goal that sealed the deal.

The boys also won 5-1 over Linden on Thursday, with Jan Guanilo Morales, Dylan Neno, and Nicholas Astiani all scoring one goal and Logan Neno scoring two. The Bridgewater-Raritan Boys Varsity Soccer team went on to play at Scotch Plains on Monday, October 31st at 4:00pm in the second round of playoffs.
