The Bridgewater-Raritan High School community put on their boots as the sound of country music echoed through the small gym for “Boots on the Floor: A Night of Unified Line Dancing,” on Friday, March 13.
Carey Marago, an Instructional Assistant in the Special Education department at the high school, was responsible for organizing this community event. She elaborated on the intention behind hosting the spirited event.
“This event today raises funds for the Unified Prom, which is for students in the ABA and Multiple Disabilities programs here at the high school,” she explained.
The Unified Prom is an inclusive annual gala, designed specifically for students in the ABA and Multiple Disabilities programs to provide a supportive, sensory-friendly environment.

The high-energy line dancing event brought students, parents, community members and faculty onto the gym floor, where attendees quickly joined the lines to dance.
The event began at 6 p.m., with line dancing lessons to teach community members the basic steps, followed by open dancing at 7 p.m.
As the event got underway, more attendees continued to trickle into the lines on the gym floor, filling the gym with energy and excitement.
As the event progressed and reached its peak, Marago reflected on the successful evening.
“I think it’s going great and we are having a really great turnout, so I’m really pleased,” she said.
The night ended on a high note, with the community leaving the dance floor in support and anticipation for the upcoming Unified Prom.
