The Bridgewater-Raritan High School Forensics Speech and Debate Team competed at the Hunterdon Central Tournament on Saturday, January 10, at Hunterdon Central Regional High School, earning strong placements across multiple events.

Here are the achievements accomplished by Bridgewater-Raritan High School students:

Avik Dutta and Aria Mahajan placed third in Junior Varsity Public Forum Debate.

Arnav Dham placed first in Varsity Lincoln-Douglas Debate.

Gia Agarwal placed fifth in Junior Varsity Lincoln-Douglas Debate.

Laasya Pothuru placed third in Novice Lincoln-Douglas Debate.

Advik Narasimhan placed fifth in Novice Lincoln-Douglas Debate.

Tharun Naguleswaran placed fourth in Extemporaneous Speaking.

Achyut Nuli placed sixth in Original Oratory.

Arnav Saravana Kumar placed sixth in Impromptu Speaking.

In total, nearly 50 Bridgewater-Raritan students participated across debate and speech categories, continuing the team’s strong mid-season performance.

Anaya Tejani shared her experience at this tournament.

“Hunterdon was a great tournament overall and provided lots of experience. It was fun to be a part of and meet new people. I’m super proud of everyone there and Bridgewater as a whole.”

Several other high schools, namely Ridge High School and Summit High School, attended the tournament. Hunterdon Central marked an important competition in the team’s season as they continue to build momentum heading into the second half of the year.

Tharun Naguleswaran also shared his opinion on the event.

“It was a more competitive tournament than usual, but I’m proud of how our school pulled through and got many awards.”

The team is looking forward to continuing their successful season with upcoming competitions, including the Ridge High School Invitational, national tournaments held at the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard University, and even the Bridgewater-Raritan High School Home Tournament.
