As the leaves fall and the temperature decreases, Bridgewater-Raritan High School’s winter sports begin to defrost; among these sports is boys’ basketball.
For a considerable amount of time, the boys’ basketball team has been preparing for the upcoming 2025-2026 season, whether the players are in the weight room or up early for scrimmages; the team undoubtedly works hard as they strive for greatness.
Coach Gene McAteer spoke about the team’s pursuit of perseverance during the off-season.
The team has had a productive off-season, which featured multiple workouts and over 35 summer and fall league games. The team will strive for another winning season and to improve on last year’s 15-win record.”
McAteer further underscored the talented underclassmen who are determined to push the seniors for playing time. He then followed up with the team’s promise for a fun season.
Junior Tyler Hamby is making a significant impact for the basketball program, whether it is through his handwork, shooting, rebounding, or blocking. Hamby’s presence is prominent on the court.
“Last year was undeniably fun and competitive, but I am ready for what this next season has in store for us. The boys and I have been grinding for months, and we are none short of prepared for what this season will bring.” He replied when questioned about the future of Bridgewater-Raritan’s basketball program.
Senior Alex Kolodziej, a practicing member of the boys’ varsity basketball team, was asked about his beliefs going into the winter and tryouts. He highlighted the idea that he believes this year will be the best chance to make the state tournament than any previous season.
The tryouts begin on Monday, November 24, and run for two days.
Overall, the upcoming boys’ basketball team shines an optimistic light on their success rate as they head into their season.
