Forensics team captured awards at the Montville Invitational Tournament

The Bridgewater-Raritan High School’s forensics team attended the Montville High School’s Invitational Tournament on February 24.

The students participated in a variety of competitive categories including public speaking, acting, comedy and debating.

At the end of the day, the team received a vast array of awards. The following students placed in Parliamentary debate: Amey Paranjpe and Dev Patel; Levi Polyakov and Rishi Ravi; Paritosh Bhole and Viraaj Marathe.

In Lincoln-Douglas debate, Arnav Dham, Sophia Liu, Advika Prakash, Sanvi Parikh and Saanvi Goel placed in their respective levels.

In Public Forum debate, Marko Gvozdenovic and Anik Shah; Rithvik Krish and Om Shah; Hrishi Patel and Jasmeet Singh; Ayushmaan Mukherjee and Malav Patel all placed in the junior varsity category.

Three Bridgewater-Raritan students placed in varsity Congressional debate, winning a bid for the national tournament in Iowa later in the school year. Prisha Bagul, Roshan Dave and Abhijay Edavalapati all won in Congress in descending order of winning placement.

On the speech side of forensics, Aditi Dhara and Tia Sharma won third place for their Duo Interpretation.

Jasmeet Singh, a sophomore who won fourth place in the JV Public Forum category, commented on the tournament.

“Montville was a great challenge because there were many teams that were competing,” he said.

His sophomore partner, Hrishi Patel, also shared that “it felt nice to [win] back to back. I’m really excited for [the] state [tournament].”

Saanvi Goel, who won third place in the varsity Lincoln-Douglas category, expressed her gratitude for being a part of the tournament.

“It gave me a chance to improve my overall debating and speaking skills,” she said.

The team is looking forward to the state tournament on March 15 and 16 and then the district tournament.

Ayushmaan Mukherjee is a sophomore at BRHS, who joined The Prowler at the start of the 2022-2023 school year. He mainly enjoys writing news briefs, although he has written for other sections. He was a part of the Paw Print at BRMS, where he was an editor for the news section.  He is learning how to play the piano and violin and plays tennis. In his spare time, he loves to both read and write stories. In the future, he hopes to improve his writing skills and become an editor for The Prowler, which he truly enjoys being a part of.
