As the sound of tumbling pins echoes through the bowling alley day by day, the Bridgewater-Raritan High School boys’ bowling team looks ahead eagerly toward the final strikes of the season.
For the boys’ bowling team, time is truly of the essence as they prepare for the last five matches remaining of the 16-match season. The team’s last match of the season is set for February 3 against Hunterdon Central High School.
The boys’ bowling team’s 2024-2025 season record is currently 4-7, having won matches against Watchung Hills High School twice, South Hunterdon High School and College Achieve Central High School.
In their second match of the season, Bridgewater-Raritan High School faced off against Watchung Hills High School, securing a powerful victory with a total of 2,757 pins while Watchung Hill fell short with 2,491 pins.
This match was dominated by senior Joe Barron and freshman Nathaniel Stroger of Bridgewater-Raritan, both of whom recorded the highest pin totals individually. Joey Barron led the way with 584 pins while Nathaniel Stroger followed with 539 pins.
As a second highlight of their season against South Hunterdon,Bridgewater-Raritan High School delivered a commanding victory, triumphant with a large margin of 2,456 pins to 1,670 pins.
Once again, Joey Barron did not fail to deliver his best, securing the position of the highest pin total of the match with 551 pins.
On December 19, Bridgewater-Raritan achieved a memorable victory against College Achieve Central, finishing with a total of 2,736 pins compared to the opposing side’s 2,016 pins.
In this match, Nathaniel Stroger played a pivotal role by achieving the highest total of the match amounting to 542 pins. His performance in this match labeled him as a standout player, distinguished by his success despite it only being his first year on the team.
In the bowling team’s most recent victory against Watchung Hills, Bridgewater-Raritan achieved their highest team total of the season, striking 2,829 pins to edge out the opposing side who tallied a close 2,481 pins.
In this match, Nathaniel Stroger delivered an outstanding individual performance, reaching an impressive total of 625 pins, the highest total not only in this match, but the highest individual total delivered in the season by Bridgewater-Raritan.
The boys’ bowling team consistently works to refine their skills, practicing at Bowlero in Green Brook.
Team captain Ray Hansen spoke on the team’s focus for the remainder of the season.
“For the second half of the bowling season, the team is focusing on more consistency and personal control of skills, and improving overall team personal records,” he said.
Senior Joey Barron, with four years of experience on the team, reflects on what he has achieved and his pride.
“Hitting my career high during a meet was a big accomplishment for me. I am proud of how we have bonded as a team this season,” he said.
Senior Nate Bender, similarly spending four years on the team, reveals his main goal for the remainder of the season.
“One of my biggest goals I hope to achieve in the rest of the season is more consistency with my scores and hitting more spares,“ he said.
In the five final meets of their season, the Bridgewater-Raritan High looks ahead to face off against Warren Hills, South Hunterdon, Belvidere, College Achieve Central and Hunterdon Central.
