On Friday, October 25, the Junior Achievement program had its first primary school visit of the school year.
Students from all four grades of Bridgewater-Raritan High School who had taken the Introduction to Business elective had the opportunity to visit John F. Kennedy or Bradley Gardens Primary Schools. Advised by teachers from the Business department, Kerriann Fry, Michael Bittner, and David Altemose, students were given kits filled with various educational activities. They set them up in the large cafeteria in the first and second blocks and taught second and fourth graders about the importance of money and decision-making.
Upon arriving at the schools, the volunteers waited in the cafeterias before being guided to classrooms filled with excited children. Some of the teachers in the classrooms saw familiar faces and were overjoyed to see how the students they once taught had grown up.
The Junior Achievement participants then spent half the day engaging with the students, either by doing the kit activities or playing with the kids during gym, recess and lunch.
Sophomore participant Ananya Nagisetti shared her thoughts and opinions on this experience, “Junior achievement was a really memorable experience for me; I’m really grateful that I participated and will definitely do it again.”
Many students enjoyed the visits and plan to volunteer again in December at the other primary schools in the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District.
