As the fall sports season is in full bloom, the Bridgewater-Raritan High School girls’ volleyball team is off to a strong start.
Led by Coach Josh Everett, the team has compiled a 9-3 record as of Thursday, September 25.
Their season-opening game was against Hunterdon Central Regional High School, and the girls have since won against strong teams such as Hillsborough High School, Sparta High School, and Watchung Hills Regional High School.
With dedicated first-year varsity players on the team, the already talented group is being propelled forward even more.
One key player on the team, who was also selected for Athlete-of-the-Week by Coach Everett, is Margarita Silvar. She was the captain of the freshman and junior varsity volleyball teams her last two years. As a junior seeing major successes in her first year on the varsity team, she shared what powers the team’s prosperity.
“I think that our positive attitude, mixed with a drive to succeed and just to play the sport we love, has really contributed to our success so far. Even when we are in a larger point difference in a set, we still find it in us to come back and finish with a win. In terms of losses, we are mentally strong enough to not let it get to us emotionally and just use it as motivation to keep getting better at practice.”
For the Bridgewater-Raritan, powered by passion and determination, the following weeks of the season look promising.
