Bridgewater-Raritan High School is excited to welcome a new face to our community and the 2025-2026 school year—Nurse Wylmarie Castillo.
With her warm personality and dedication to providing a safe and healthy environment for students, she has already made a positive impression on students and staff.
Nurse Castillo, who actually started at Bridgewater-Raritan High School this past April, expressed her enthusiasm and excitement about being able to join Bridgewater-Raritan High School and be a part of our community.
“One of the most underrated things that we do is just being a listening ear to students,” she said.
She hopes to provide a welcoming environment where students can feel comfortable sharing their concerns or even having a simple conversation.
Nurse Castillo also encourages people to focus on daily wellness habits. Her biggest tip: never skip breakfast and make sure to drink water.
“You have to fuel your body because it’s early, and it’s a lot of learning, and if you’re hungry, you can’t learn,” she explained.
She motivates students to pursue a healthier lifestyle without relying on caffeine or energy drinks like Celsius. In addition, she encourages teachers to individually check in with students, helping build a stronger and more trusting relationship.
What Nurse Castillo enjoys most about working in a school is the opportunity to connect with students. Unlike the fast-paced hospital environment, Bridgewater-Raritan allows her to watch students grow, learn, and change over time. She acknowledges that every student faces different challenges and requires unique support.
“I enjoy learning how to be flexible and adapting to meet students’ needs,” she said,
Bridgewater-Raritan High School is grateful to have Nurse Castillo as part of our community. As students and teachers, it is now our turn to make her feel welcome and supported as she continues her journey here with us.
