The Bridgewater-Raritan High School held its annual Spring Extravaganza on Tuesday, April 22.
Three music groups participated in this event: the Bridgewater-Raritan Indoor Percussion, Winter Guard and Monday Jazz Band.
This event was held so that all music groups could showcase their hard work and improvement over several months. It was also open to the public who wanted to attend and see their performances, which meant the bleachers were filled with friends and family who also wanted to support the groups.
The Bridgewater-Raritan Indoor Percussion performed their show “The Sound Gallery,” which featured the songs “Spring” by Vivaldi, “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” by Whitney Houston and “Hot To Go” by Chappell Roan.

The Monday Jazz Band performed their songs “Dancing Men” by John La Barbera, “The End of a Love Affair” by Edward C. Redding and “La Suerte De Los Tontos” by Johnny Richards.
The Bridgwater-Raritan Winter Guard performed their show titled “Le Café,” and it included the songs “Couleur Café” by Serge Gainsbourg and “Blue Skies” by Ella Fitzgerald.
The event started at eight pm, with the Monday Jazz Band leading off. In their pieces, the soloists were Julian DiMaggio on drumset, Nick Venet on trombone, Shaurya Jain and Saraansh Rawat on saxophone and Jacob Reinstein on trumpet.
The extravaganza was held so that all performers and the public could enjoy each other’s performances. Students seemed carefree while performing, which showcased the enjoyment and fun they had during their season.
The event was a great success. Everyone had some snacks afterwards and was allowed to chat amongst each other as a final gathering. The Bridgewater-Raritan Indoor Percussion season is officially over; however, the Winter Guard and Monday Jazz Band still have a few more performances.

Olivia Strother, a freshman at Bridgewater-Raritan High School, shared her thoughts on the event.
“It was amazing seeing the other ensembles perform. It might’ve been hot, but there was cake afterward, and that made up for it. Overall, it was a great experience and I would definitely do this again!”
