As February begins and course selection for the upcoming school year grows closer, Bridgewater-Raritan High School sought to give students the opportunity to learn more about the various classes they offer through its first annual Elective Fair.
The event, which was held from January 22 to 23, invited teachers from across all subjects to give presentations on their classes. From Italian to Woodworking — from Computer Science to Art — students had the opportunity to walk around the small gym, exploring their various interests.
As teachers and students shared descriptions of every course available next year, people were able to learn about subjects that they would not otherwise have been exposed to. Previous students shared first-hand experiences, and faculty members relayed what would be taught throughout the semesters.
Junior Aayushi Chauhan remarked on her experience at the fair.
“The elective fair was a great opportunity to explore new interests and discover classes I never considered before. Talking to teachers and students gave me a better idea of what to expect, and now I feel more confident about my choices for next year!” she said.

One Latin student explained their take on helping out at the event, encouraging students to enroll in certain electives.
“I love that we were able to share our own thoughts and encourage people to take courses that we enjoyed! Hearing about the course load or assignments has always influenced my choices, so I thought that this was a great opportunity,” they said.
Through trifolds, interactive games, and free giveaways, Bridgewater-Raritan High School brought a fun and informative event which it hopes to continue for many years to come.
