A senior who applied to Rutgers and requested to stay anonymous shared their thoughts on Rutgers’ increasing selectivity.
“With Rutgers becoming more selective, getting admitted has become more competitive. However, I think that during the admissions process, I was able to rise to the challenge and show Rutgers my individuality by being original in my essay and joining a lot of clubs that I can relate to,” they said.
A Wake Up Call For High School Students
For students hoping to attend Rutgers, strong grades alone may no longer be enough to be selected. While maintaining a superior GPA is essential, Rutgers admissions officers are looking beyond academics. Items such as extracurriculars, leadership experience and internships are gaining more weight in the admissions process; students must find ways to set themselves apart.
