The Women in Stem club is dedicated to providing young women in Bridgewater-Raritan High School with opportunities to pursue jobs in the STEM field through presentations and interactive activities.
As the holidays began, on December 5, 2024, the Women in Stem club met to make Holiday Cards for donations. The cards were donated to local centers and shelters in New Jersey with a message to brighten up someone’s day.
On December 17, the club held its final meeting of 2024. In honor of the upcoming holidays, members of the Women in Stem club had a relaxing meeting, tye-dying shirts. Club members brought in their own white T-shirts and created a variety of designs. This activity was the perfect combination of fun and learning, as there was science and chemistry involved.
As the new year begins, Women in Stem plans to bring many more exciting and educational opportunities and activities. In the past, this club has had a guest speaker, who explained her job as a Physician’s Assistant (PA). The club has also presented its members with opportunities to join research programs, volunteer services and has provided career paths, such as a BS/MD program. For the future, Women in Stem plans to go on an overnight field trip to the Liberty Science Center.
President Nandini Kuppachi commented on the event. “I am incredibly grateful to all our amazing members for their dedication and enthusiasm during this meeting. We had so much fun with the activities, from Kahoot to card making and socialization, and it was heartwarming to see everyone come together for such a meaningful cause. With the help of our members, we were able to donate over 65 cards to Saint Peter’s Children’s Hospital, along with goodie bags filled with crayons, coloring books, and stickers. Together, we truly made the holidays brighter for many in our community, and I’m excited to see what the new year has in store for us!” she said.
