The Central Jersey Math League’s (CJML) third 2024-2025 season competition was held at Bridgewater-Raritan High School on December 11.
The CJML is a local math competition league for students in Central Jersey, holding meetings monthly from September to April and usually occurring in different high schools across New Jersey.
The test always consists of ten challenging questions, ranging from arithmetic topics, algebra, geometry and number theory. Students are tasked with completing these questions in one hour.
Meetings before the one held at Bridgewater-Raritan High School were in Monroe High School (September 25), Montgomery High School (October 16) and Union County Vo-Tech (November 13). The next CJML meeting will occur on January 22, 2025 as a home meet.
At the meeting, math league competitors arrived from numerous other schools, including Montgomery High School, JP Stevens, Edison High School, Hillsborough High School and more. They were welcomed by Math League students from our high school and directed to the testing room, which was the large cafeteria.
After taking the tests, students enjoyed complimentary pizza, while waiting for the results of the meet to be announced.
Both Bridgewater-Raritan and Edison Academy Magnet School tied for first place, a rare occurrence in the Central Jersey Math League. They were followed by Montgomery High School, who were on a sextuple win streak and the winners of the 2023-2024 season. Additionally, Christopher Qiu from Bridgewater-Raritan High School earned a perfect score on the exam.
The Math League at Bridgewater-Raritan looks forward to succeeding at future competitions this season.
