Bridgewater-Raritan High School’s Future Business Leaders Of America (FBLA) club held its annual regional testing on December 2.
An estimated 70 students were given an excused absence during the school day to take the test in the library.
In this event, students participated in their chosen fields to take a test competing for regionals. Those who pass the regional level will then have the opportunity to go to the state competition in Atlantic City. For the test, students had two weeks to prepare for a variety of topics including introduction to business communications, accounting and business law.
They were also given the opportunity to participate in three different events: individual, team or chapter. The individual event is when students prepare a topic and take a one-hundred-question test on their chosen topic. The team event was held as a presentation and tested students’ presentation and communication skills. Finally, the chapter event involved all FBLA chapters and looked for performance, participation and collaboration.
To help fundraise for the organization, students selected chocolate boxes to sell candy under their name. The club plans to use the money to reduce the cost of future trips and contribute to many community organizations such as Whiskers and Wishes, Advocate4Anthony, Red Cross and Habitat for Humanity.
FBLA provides many opportunities for students to advance and show their skills through competing in major business-related events.
