The Bridgewater-Raritan Engineering Club (BR Engineering) recently held its first meeting on October 16, led by co-presidents Giovanni Anyanwu and Anvay Ajmera, plus their officer team.
After a year-long hiatus, the club was reorganized and gathered several new members.
The meeting commenced with introductions from the officer team and a brief description of the club’s ’24-’25 school year plans. The officers detailed several projects the club will focus on: robotics, electronics design and chemical engineering projects.
One core aspect of the club’s mission is to offer students not just theoretical knowledge but practical experiences where they can apply their learning. Furthermore, the officers expressed their desire to send members to competitions, most notably the club’s goal to attend both the Terra North Jersey Stem Fair (TNJSF) and the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF).
After this, the team held a collaborative activity for attendees, where participants were tasked with “over-engineering” an everyday item. Club members split up into several groups, each “over-engineering” a different item. Items ranged from complicated shoes to powerful defenses, reflecting the club members’ creativity.
Freshman Adit Sinha spoke about his experience at the BR Engineering’s first meeting. “It was really interesting and it really gave me the feeling of curiosity,” he said.
Co-President Anvay Ajmera expressed his enthusiasm for the club as well. “We were able to gather many like-minded individuals with a passion for engineering, and we hope to expand on this in the future with more meetings,” he said.
As BR Engineering expands, the club intends to host additional meetings and fundraising events to attract and recruit more members. With its mix of competitive mindset and detailed projects, BR Engineering truly offers a unique opportunity for prospective members.
The club plans on hosting biweekly meetings after school.
Members are eager to dive deeper into project work and begin preparing for upcoming competitions, making it an exciting time for anyone interested in engineering to get involved.
