Bridgewater-Raritan’s High School Robotics Team 303 is looking forward to another successful year, with plans to expand and continue community outreach.
Last year, the team experienced major success, qualifying for the district championship for the second year in a row, winning the District Industrial Design Award and winning the District Engineering Inspiration Award at competitions. The team also maintained its community outreach, running its annual STEAM Fair, STEAM Week and Rainbow Run events.
The team expanded on its outreach, mentoring 12 new robotics teams in elementary schools, assisting with the Middle School Technical Design Challenge at BRMS and hosting the FLL event Brik Rampage. Additionally, the team donated STEAM kits to local hospitals, helping students without accessible opportunities learn about STEAM.
This year, the team hopes to continue to succeed in both its outreach and robot efforts. The team is currently training new members until January when the build season begins. During training, new members learn about the intricacies of their subteam, learning important skills and getting experience working with heavy machinery. Additionally, the team will be competing in two offseason competitions during the time, which will help new members gain experience.
The team is continuing to extend its outreach efforts, picking up on previous initiatives and working on new outreach opportunities to help bring engineering and STEAM to everyone. Looking forward to the competition season, the team hopes to make their third consecutive appearance at district championships, and potentially move on to the world championship.
