Bridgewater-Raritan High School’s Epic Yearbook committee recently received an Award of Excellence from their publisher, Walsworth Publishing.
After a year of meticulous and hard work, the yearbook committee was recognized for their craft. The Award of Excellence emphasizes the talent and determination the Epic Yearbook staff had during the 2023-2024 school year.
According to Michael Bittner, one of the yearbook’s advisors along with Philipe D’Apolito, “This was awarded for the overall quality of the yearbook.”
Mr. Bittner was also sent a wall plaque and a press release.
He further commented on the committee’s accomplishment.
“I have been a yearbook co-Adviser since the 2011-2012 school year. For the last four years, it has been a pleasure to work with all of our senior staff members and especially with Rhea and Gracelynne. They were always involved in their first two years , they spent a lot of time learning how to create yearbooks but they have really done excellent work as they moved into the co-Editor positions. Last summer the idea of having the comic book theme was developed and they ran with it. This led to the creation of the 2024 EPIC Yearbook.”
The hard work and determination of the Epic staff is what led to this accomplishment, according to Mr. Bittner, who went on to thank the team.
“I have had the pleasure the last two years of having Mr. D’Apolito as my co-adviser and he has been very helpful in making sure that we met all of our deadlines so that we would have the delivery of the almost 1400 books on time,” he said. “We have also benefited from senior staff members such as Tommy Buono, Sam Manongsong, and Dana Vaca as photographers of the different events and activities.”
He continued with thanking more senior staffers.
“Bri Fitzgerald, Rodrigo Robles, and Sohum Mehrotra were other seniors who helped with page templates and story creation. There have been many students from grades 9 through 11 who have also been very crucial in the completion of this yearbook. I know they are going to become more valuable as we continue to create the 2025 edition of the BRHS EPIC Yearbook.”
For students who are looking to join the EPIC staff next year, keep an eye out on BRTV in the fall. If you are a rising senior, don’t forget to schedule your senior portrait session and to take lots of photos to submit for the senior summer pages of the 2025 yearbook.
