Choral ensembles from Bridgewater-Raritan High School performed at their highly anticipated Spring Concert, marking their final performance for the school year, on May 16.
The concert, filled with captivating performances, took place in the auditorium at the high school. It was a booming success, gathering enthusiastic applause from students and parents alike. The concert was a testament to the hard work and dedication of the choir and the choral director, Dr. John Wilson.
Months of dedicated practice were seen through the showcase of talent from the three ensembles in chorus at the high school: the mixed choir, select treble and symphonic choir. Pieces performed included, “True Colors,” “What Happens When A Woman” and “I Need You to Survive, powerful songs with an emotional depth that deeply resonated with the audience.
Freshman Preethi Chandrani said how the concert was “a great opportunity for [her]” and how it allowed her to “truly experience [her] love for singing.”
This sentiment was shared with many of her peers who felt that this concert helped them grow.
This concert also marked the final performance of Dr. Wilson at Bridgewater-Raritan High School. Throughout the evening, he shared heartfelt moments with his students.
He is leaving at the conclusion of the school year after 17 years at Bridgewater-Raritan High School to become the Director of Choral Activities at the State University of New York at New Platz.
Chorus member Juliana Narciso felt herself tearing up during this performance because of the impact Dr. Wilson had on her singing career. His departure will undoubtedly leave a void in the music department, but his legacy and influence will continue to inspire future generations of students.
