The boys’ track and field season at Bridgewater-Raritan High School has reached full swing as the athletes are loaded with determination to succeed in their events.
The season began in early April with students committing to daily practice, excited to find their place on the team through the wide range of events that students can venture into. This season of spring track and field brought in a large pool of freshmen students, eager to participate in the school’s athletic program.
A freshman student, Paarth Sharma, shared his reasons for joining the track and field season for his first year.
“I joined the track and field team to get some physical activity and for the welcoming community,” he said.
Since the start of the track and field season, the team has competed in numerous competitions against other schools around New Jersey, allowing students to represent their school while achieving their personal goals.
As the season progresses, the team has its eyes set on success in the two upcoming championships: the Somerset County Championships and the Skyland Conference Championships.
Coach David Evans offered his insight on the current state of the team and his anticipations for the remainder of the season. “
The team is coming around into top form as we approach the Championships,” he said.
He stated that the Sprint Medley Team recently set a school record, and he foresees that additional school records will be set by the end of the season.
“Everyone is moving in the right direction and we should see some great performances coming up as we enter the championship portion of the season,” Coach Evans said.
