The Tri-M Honor Society was the host of its fall festival, a series of performances highlighting individual and small-group musicians across all musicians at Bridgewater-Raritan High School, on November 16 during Unit Lunch.
The Tri-M Honor Society is a program sponsored by the National Association of Music Education that empowers students already interested in music to be leaders in advocacy and education for music. As the only music honor society for students in middle and high school, the Tri-M Honor Society allows students involved in music-based endeavors to engage in similar service-based projects and thus gain valuable experience in their undertakings.
The Fall Festival was the first formal event of the school year and had dozens of students in attendance who watched the performances. This musical get-together set the scene for the next concerts to come.
The concert was held in the choir room, where many solo and duo performances took place, featuring percussion, piano and string players, among others. Many members of the Tri-M society were able to showcase their honed talents for which they were inducted in the first place.
Bridgewater-Raritan High School’s chapter of the Tri-M Honor Society holds many community events and performances during school to maintain engagement and highlight the musical talent fostered at our school.
Including nearly 80 students from BRHS’s curricular orchestra, band and choir ensembles, the honor society often hosts concerts during lunch and seasonal concerts. These concerts include the Fall Festival and seasonal concerts like the Winter Concert held on December 20 and the upcoming Spring Concert.
Another annual event that the Tri-M Honor Society organizes is the Battle of the Bands, in which members of the society and musicians from other schools perform competitively to advance to the next round.
The Tri-M honor society had a successful first event during unit lunch, which was the first of many presentations, as the Honor Society continues to organize similarly successful events.
