Team 303, Bridgewater-Raritan High School’s Robotics club, organized and was the host of the Lego League Challenge Competition at Bridgewater-Raritan Middle School on Saturday, November 18.
Each team was given a world issue and the objective was to use their skills to create an invention to solve this issue. They then presented their projects to judges to receive points.
The competition provided students with an opportunity to showcase their skills in a non-competitive environment. It also helped them build their team-building process and critical thinking skills.
Many teams competed in hopes of making it to states. Students participated from various schools and organizations including Bridgewater-Raritan Middle School, Montgomery Middle School and churches.
The competitors dedicated their time and efforts to do well. One team stated that they had practice twice a week, on Tuesdays and Sundays.
Organizing this event was rewarding but wasn’t without challenges.
Team 303 advisor, John Sirusas, shared his struggles with time management and organization. He expressed his pride as he sees the competitors improving their skills as the year progresses.
The robotics Lego League Challenge Competition helped young students explore and enrich their passion for robotics in fun, yet challenging competitions. The leadership team looks forward to organizing many more events like this in the upcoming years.
