Bridgewater-Raritan High School’s Marching Band continues to peak at the right time.

One week before the New Jersey Marching Band Directors Association (NJMBDA) State Championship performance, Bridgewater-Raritan won yet another competition.

On Saturday, October 21, at East Brunswick High School, Bridgewater-Raritan captured first place in the Class AAA Division with a score of 87.9, which edged runner-up Monroe Township High School, which collected 87.1, and Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School, which placed third with a total of 81.8 at the NJMBDA competition.

Bridgewater-Raritan also won caption awards for best music and best overall effect in its Class AAA Division at East Brunswick.

On Saturday, October 14, no team scores were tabulated since the NJMBDA competition on that day was forced inside the gym at the Monroe Township Middle School due to rain, but Bridgewater-Raritan received high praises from the judges, according to Nick Mossa, the Bridgewater-Raritan High School Marching Band Director.

On the previous Saturday, October 7, at Piscataway High School, Bridgewater-Raritan won the Class AAA Division at the NJMBDA  competition with a score of 78.6. East Brunswick finished second with 75.3 points and Scotch Plains-Fanwood ended in third place with 73.6.

“This band continues to impress week to week and I’m so proud of how much progress we’ve
made as a group,” Mr. Mossa said.

This Saturday, October 28, Bridgewater-Raritan will compete in the Bands of America Regionals at Rutgers University.

And on the following day, October 29, the NJMBDA State Championships are scheduled at The College of New Jersey in Ewing. Bridgewater-Raritan is a strong candidate to win a state championship, which would be its second in three years.

Bridgewater-Raritan was crowned a state champion in its class two years ago and then placed third last season.
