Bridgewater-Raritan High School recently introduced the Cryptocurrency Club, a new club on campus. Co-founded by junior Ronak Hunashimarad and senior Mukund Vegunta, it has held two meetings so far, with the first on November 12.
Hunashimarad spoke on the purpose of the club.
“In cryptocurrency club, students don’t just learn about cryptocurrency, but a whole host of Web3 technologies like blockchains, cryptography, NFTs and smart contracts.” he said.
During the meeting on November 26, there was a brief overview of the inner functions of cryptocurrency. Then, all club members registered on a trading simulator to practice buying and selling various cryptocurrency.
“It’s basically a competition,” Hunashimarad said. “At the end of the year, the highest ranking trader will get a prize.” The meeting attendees then proceeded to participate in a brief Gimkit, with the winner receiving candy as a prize for the end of the meeting.
The club’s advisor is Ms. Laura Stroka; the club meets in room 304 every other Tuesday during lunch. The next meeting, which will cover cryptocurrency wallets and security, is on December 10. Students may use the Google Classroom code “uie4xq2” for more information.
“Our goal is to have a successful first year by introducing as many students to cryptocurrency as possible. The more people learn about new, evolving sectors, the more opportunities they have,” Hunashimarad said.
