Bridgewater-Raritan High School’s new club this year, the Fishing Club, encapsulates different species of fish, lures, fundraisers and future fishing trips.
The fishing club is an educational club for those who love to or those who are learning how to fish.
During the meeting on October 10, President Shubh Kapoor, presented the significance and value different lures have while fishing; those featured include swimbaits, topwater lures, lipless crankbaits and lipped crankbaits.
Advisor Mr. Martin explained in further detail the separation and usefulness of the contrasting lures. Then, a large portion of the meeting summarized bass fishing and its difficulties and advantages. The majority of the fishing club’s members preferred bass fishing over other fish, such as trout.
Similarly, the second meeting was as successful as the first. Officers, Shubh Kapoor (president), Jade Tofte (treasurer and social media manager), Derek Carranza (secretary) and Jayden Lee (vice president) organized an informative meeting with a large turnout: the club accumulated over 40 new members within half an hour.
Sophomore Bellina Locrotondo reflected on the meeting. “I knew very little about fishing before attending the club; now I am excited for the fishing trip scheduled for the end of the year,” she said.
The new fishing club, as a whole, grants enjoyable experiences while also providing educational lessons for its members.
