The Bridgewater-Raritan High School Model United Nations Club sponsored its first introduction meeting of the year, inviting new members interested in joining.
The meeting was hosted during lunch on September 16.
Model UN is a simulation of the United Nations where students act as delegates from different countries, working together to debate and solve pressing global issues. Participants engage in research, public speaking and collaboration as they navigate complex topics impacting our world today.
The club’s core officers led the meeting, explaining the basics of Model UN and sharing their own experiences from past conferences. Information was shared on how to sign up, the benefits of the activity and much more.
The club’s senior president, Harsha Ahmed, and the vice presidents, Isabel Lu and Lily Xu, described their experiences in the club and the benefits of the activity.
“I’m very happy to see the large amount of participation from the freshmen. The future of the club looks promising!” Ahmed commented.
Throughout the meeting, prospective members were introduced to the various aspects and opportunities within the club, including their plans to attend many conferences such as National High School MUN Conference, North America Invitational MUN Conference and Princeton MUN Conference throughout the year.
New students are still able to join BR Model UN if interested. The club meets every after-school on Fridays in the 800 building. The Google Classroom code is jevavp3.
